A story born of ancient faith and told through modern cinema. As Oklahoma’s filmmaking scene and local Orthodox parishes experience explosive growth within their own spheres, take part in a unique cultural moment where cinema, mystery, community, and the sacred converge: El Tonto Por Cristo, followed by a live conversation with the filmmakers. This is a film that is meant to be experienced theatrically and in community — and it will only happen here once.

As Oklahoma’s independent film landscape continues to gain momentum and local Orthodox parishes are experiencing unprecedented growth, this screening offers an opportunity for both communities to come together around a story that resonates in a particularly timely way.The Antiochian Archdiocese recently gave its blessing for Holy Ascension’s building expansion—a project that will assist the parish as it expands to support a growing influx of those interested in learning more about the Orthodox faith. The effort to bring this screening to Oklahoma City is joined with this project (with the blessing of Fr. Kosmas Morfas at Holy Ascension) in hopes that the enthusiasm surrounding the film can jointly serve a meaningful parish effort, while providing the community with an opportunity to come together for a unique cinematic experience that's worth celebrating.Special thank you to Josh & Jessica Jordan, the filmmakers of El Tonto Por Cristo, who have generously partnered with Holy Ascension in donating a portion of the ticket sales that exceed the 200-ticket threshold. And finally, thank you for your support, whatever the form—events like this can only happen because of people like you.
